 Background of V
  The cloaked freedom fighter, V, hides his identity behind a mask resembling Guy Fawkes, a conspirator involved in the infamous Gunpowder Plot of 1605. V orchestrates an elaborate chain of events that lead up to his ultimate goal of destroying the Houses of Parliament, and toppling the corrupt totalitarian regime in control of a futuristic Britain.

Guy Fawkes was a conspirator involved in the failed attempt to blow up the Houses of Parliament during its State Opening in 1605. Fawkes, along with a group of disgruntled English

  Roman Catholics, plotted to kill King James I of England as well as most of the rest of the Protestant aristocracy, and take control of the government on behalf of the Catholics.
