Coruscant  Background of Coruscant   Coruscant is the bustling heart of the galaxy. A city covers the entire planet's surface. "Coruscant" is an actual word in the dictionary that means glittering. The name of the planet was coined by author Timothy Zahn who first used the name Coruscant in his Star Wars novel entitled Heir to the Empire (1991).
